Silicon Valley Intensive English Program (SVIEP) English that Works! Developed by Community, Continuing and Corporate Education, the Silicon Valley Intensive English Program (SVIEP) at Cañada College provides international students, community residents and expatriated professionals and families with relevant and effective English language instruction and American cultural enrichment for academic, professional and personal purposes. SVIEP provides two tracks to address student needs. These include SVIEP: English for Life, which is focused on practical English skills for daily living, and SVIEP Academic, which is focused on academic English skills for college success. SVIEP: English for Life provides fun and effective classes designed to help students enjoy a better quality of life through improved English communication skills. Classes are run in 8-week sessions and include part-time offerings such as American Culture, Effective Writing & Grammar, and Clear Communication, which are offered at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. Students take a placement exam prior to beginning the program, as well as a progress exam upon completion of each 8-week session.
