Chinese 1 Class Info

"Let’s speak Chinese!" Beginning Chinese I is designed for those with a little or no prior experience in Chinese. Students will learn basic daily expressions and topics such as greeting, shopping, ordering food, asking for directions and time, etc. Instructor Lucy Sui, originally from Beijing, will have you experience the local color of Beijing, including scenic spots, traditional food, and customs. The goal of the class is to build toward allowing students to demonstrate in meaningful and unrehearsed ways that they are able to use what they have learned. Reference book Yong Ho's Beginning Chinese I* (not required).

Beginning Chinese II Class Info

"Let’s speak Chinese!" Beginning Chinese II is designed for those with some experience in Chinese. Students will enhance basic daily expression skills. The conversational topics can be shopping, ordering food, going to see a doctor, talking about habits, etc. Instructor Xiaohong (Lucy) Sui, originally from Beijing, will have you experience the local color of Beijing, including scenic spots, traditional food, and customs. The goal of the class is to build toward allowing students to demonstrate in meaningful and unrehearsed ways that they are able to use what they have learned. Reference book Yong Ho's Beginning Chinese I* (not required).

Fingerspell Your Way to Understanding Class Info


Enhance your fingerspelling skills in this highly-interactive class designed by Instructor Sandra Nalls for you to practice your basic expressive and receptive skills in an encouraging environment. You will develop greater understanding of the letters by developing memory techniques and increase your ability to absorb what’s being communicated.
