Basic Cake Decorating

Learn the art of cake decorating and techniques practiced by professional cake decorators from Kathleen Luzzi, owner of a popular local bakery.  She will share tips of the trade to help you create delectable cakes, icings and fillings.  The class is sure to be fun.  Cakes will be provided for practice.

Urban Farming for the City Dweller

Want to grow some of your own food in your own backyard? What do you need to know about city ordinances? Deciding what to grow? Providing for the growing needs of your plants? Novel places to grow vegetables when space is limited? Composting? Raising animals in the city? Preserving food when the harvest is abundant? Instructor Carol Faust will share resources & her experience doing just that for 40+ years with the Faust Family Farm in Oakdale.

Container Gardening for Year Round Beauty

Learn the practical and pretty of container gardening.  What post work and look best?  How to choose and care for plants to reap months of blooms and beauty.  Design ideas, working with color, and seasonal updates will be demonstrated.  We'll use a wide range of plants including evergreens, herbs, perennials, annuals and succulents.  

Instructor Laurel Nagle, a professional Master Gardener is the owner of a container gardening business (Every Bloomin Thing) as well as has taught workshops at the SF flower and garden show and Lyngso.  She has a certificate in Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley Extension.

Repurpose Your Furniture

Do you have a piece of furniture in your home that you would love to redesign or one that you picked up at a garage sale that needs to be repurposed? In this 5 hour workshop, the instructor will walk you through how to sand, paint, stain, use special techniques, decorate with stencils, make repairs, and enhance the overall look of your furniture. You will be amazed at the transformation that takes place in just 5 hours. All you need to do is bring in a piece of furniture (something you can carry yourself) such as a nightstand, end table, small coffee table, mirror, or chair and the instructor will provide all of the high end supplies.
