  Charcoal Drawing (all ages & grades)

 This course explores the boundaries of charcoal and its uses through drawing. There is a focus on learning the elements and principles of art and design: “gradation”, “balance”, and “value”. We will learn the basics of charcoal tools such as charcoal sticks, vine charcoal, and charcoal pencils as well as blending techniques to achieve thoughtful textures and smooth gradation. Students will have creative freedom to choose their subjects and push charcoal to its limits! Subjects that are realistic, cartoonish, and abstract are all welcome.
