Writing Skills 7

Students will participate in hands-on writing practice to develop grade-appropriate writing skills. Students will be separated by grade, and classes are designed to help students improve and reinforce their writing skills while making learning enjoyable. All two-week session will include the specific focus areas described below.

Topics and level of difficulty will be adjusted for each grade level class.

Practice writing arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.

Practice writing informative/explanatory texts to exam a topic and convey ideas, concepts and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content.

Develop topic or thesis statements, organize ideas, concepts, and information using strategies such as definition, classification, comparison/contract, and cause/effect.
