Peninsula Parks & Trails
Join instructor and guide Tom Taber for a fun and informative course that combines an in-class lecture with three weekend field trips. Students will learn about flora, fauna, geology, wildflowers, and history while exploring scenic parks and trails. Each excursion will involve walking 4.5-6.5 miles in mountainous terrain. There will be frequent stops to examine natural and historical features and to sample tasty treats made from native edible plants. We will visit old-growth redwoods and a beautiful creek at Pescadero Creek County Park, cross the San Andreas Fault and enjoy beautiful views at Monte Bello Preserve, and explore a scenic oak woodland at Stevens Creek County Park.

**This course requires moderate physical activity. Students must be able to walk up to 6.5 miles in mountainous terrain. Comfortable walking shoes, a hat, layered clothing, water, and lunch are recommended. No pets allowed.**
